Ohiyo Gozimas!
Okay, so I know I promised I'd be back at the end of December...and it's Feb 2nd, but I have good news! The good news is that I have no more bad news! MWahahahahahaha >:D
But no, seriously, I have good news. In the time that I wasn't working on finding a job (which I have now), I DID manage to publish my Hole in a Helmet book! So happy about that!
All I have to show you as far as a book cover is this one I downloaded form Amazon. My original book cover was lost when my previous computer died (hence why I haven't been on so much). It sucks, I know, but that's life!
So there it is!
I recently started the next part of the Areoth story (Areoth being my first Sci-fi
book). I call it Westh: The Sun Thieves. It follows the line of Captain Westh, the lady who found and collected the crew of the first story as they were on Areoth. The story is about their contact with first extraterrestrial sentience other than their own being thieves who choose to steal their sun! Those swines..
One thing I do want to say. A big shout out to Christopher Hitchens, one of the mocking Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He died on December 15th, 2011. I didn't cry after hearing the initial news of his death, but after watching videos of him for the first time today in his struggle with cancer and how frail and pathetic it made him, I actually started to cry a bit. I have known him as the fluffy, fun, witty, sometimes serious, always intellectual man that anyone will know him as through his debates, but seeing him as thin as a stick just hit me to my core. Putting all my spiritual beliefs a side as I speak emotionally on this, I personally hope that there IS a loving afterlife on the other side and not just nothingness. It would be so tragic if as he died he just became nothing, because he was so much more than that. If you know nothing about this great man, go and look him up. You won't be disappointed.
Technically this thing says I am typing here on Thursday at 3 in the morning (I moved to Colorado, by the way), but let's just say this happened on Wednesday.
I submitted my book Hole in a Helmet to a Penguin Publishing contest only yesterday. They told me a few months ago through one of their branches DAW books that my book, in effect, wasn't worthy of winning their contest at that time, so I am trying this book here. Keep in mind, though, that since their rejection of Areoth, my first submitted book, it has recently received a 5-star rating on Amazon. Oh well.
This last month of January I made more money in books than I have ever made (it is made on a month-to-month basis). Guess how much?! I know no one reads this crappy blog, but if one day I do become famous and people read this blog, the first person to win this contest will get a special prize from me. You must name the exact amount of money I made this last January (it's a whole number, no cents involved). Everyone gets just one vote, and FYI it's a number between 1-500 >:-D
Good luck, and see you next week with news on Westh: The Sun Thieves.
