The 200 Book Challenge Introduction

Howdy. My name is John McAdam. Who am I? Just some random kid from the block. I usually never liked to read books as a child, but I always loved collecting them, which was always a paradox even in my eyes. I used to go down to a used bookstore and pull out 50 books and buy them for 100 bucks, and that was what I considered fun. I never liked reading them, but as far as writing them I always had an urge to. At the age of 12 I asked my dad if he would help me publish one if I wrote one. by that time I had already about 100 pages worth of stories I had started on works but had never gotten around to finishing one, until the day I realized that in the time of writing I had accumulated 100 or so poems. What did I do? I sent them off to Publishamerica, the notoriously bad publishing company, and published my first of soon to be many books. The book's name was Works From a Simple Mind, and it was published December 7, 2009.

Since that day, I have published 5 other books. The titles include Were Ancient Gods From Other Planets?, Am I Mad or Coherent?, Confucius Say, The Surgeon With Glasses, and Areoth. I am currently working on a book called The Vampire Pill.

So what is The 200 Book Challenge? I have vowed that, come age 40, I will have published over 200 books and will be a prolific author. I implore you to come along with me on this journey. It is going to be a long, hard, grueling one. I am on book 7 right now and and things are tough. It requires me to write 10 pages a day, every day, 365 days a week. I haven’t followed this schedule too well hence why I only have 7 books, but now that I am 21 and am heading into the world of work, I would rather be an author than, say, a burger flipper or a lawyer. It’s just not my line of work. I respect burger flippers and lawyers equally because they all keep the world going round. Every single job on this earth keeps things rolling and sustaining for life to exist as we know it, and I feel it is my part to become an author.

I invite you, once again, to join me on this journey. I am following in the great footsteps of one of my favorite writers, Isaac Asimov. He had 500+ books to his name when he died. Hopefully I can get at least half that. Every week I will post a blog on my progress, and I shall be sure to make it in depth. Can you keep up?…for 20 years! :)
