My First Radio Interview

Here's an interesting story that happened to me:

I was in high school, and I was on the last field trip I would ever be on with the high school. We went to a small park that has a fancy water fountain and a zoo. Sound's boring, but it was kind of fun. The zoo is always a buzz kill, though, as it is always SOOO hot there that you basically become an animal yourself, trudging around like you have elephant feet!

Anyway, so the minute I get there I am walking around. We went to the park every year and for the first hour every time I always like to walk around and do some soul searching before the day gets too big and I am busy with the other kids. I am walking around, loving the birds, the trees, the water that is alive with elegant moss that is long enough to be used as hair (I call it water hair), when all of a sudden I see a man feeding ducks. Just some random guy, around age 50-60, minding his own business, feeding ducks. It wasn't just ducks, though, but ducks, pigeons, I think there were a few starlings. I felt like I didn't need to go to the zoo after all! Half of what they had was eating bread right in front of me!The man looked like such a nice guy, too. I sat down and we eventually got to talking about the ducks. Being an animal lover, and having grown up around starlings, ducks, blue jays, cats, chickens, dogs, and a sister (wait, didn't I already mention dogs? HAH just kidding) I felt at home with animals surrounding me. By growing up around them, my house was filled with birds we would rehab, but we never kept them in cages. At one time we had over 20 birds flying around our house. It was amazing, but there was so much bird droppings!!!

So I sit down and eventually this man and I start talking about the birds and the ducks and so forth. Eventually we get onto the subject about the fact that he had just published a book called Watergate Exposed. Little did I know, having just sat down with this random bloke, that I was sitting next to a man who was one of the leading lawyers in the Watergate scandal with Nixon! What a buzz! It's amazing to think of who you just meet out in the random world.

So we start talking about books, and at this time I had only 3 books published. I tell him about my books, the mans name being Doug Caddy, and eventually he likes my ideas so much (or so that is how I saw it) that he tells me about a man named Ray Hill. Of course I had no idea who this was, but after doing research I find out he is this amazing man with awesome credentials and the right ideas for this new generation I have grown up in. I give Ray a call and he says that I must come down for a radio interview, so I do! It was my first. It's amazing how a simple park meeting with two random strangers turns out to be a radio interview! Simply amazing.

I did the interview and I got a second chance to be on the show with what Ray says was by popular demand. So, in this post and the next, I will post both of the interviews that I now have on CD thanks to Ray's graces and the technological know-how of Robert Johns. I implore you to visit Ray on his radio show every 2 pm on weekdays at www.HMSradio.org. The show is called Ray on the Radio. Great show!

Well, here is my first interview! As you can tell by all the "um"'s, I was kind of nervous! I got better by the end, though. Enjoy!!
